SHOW YOUR LOVE FOR LGBTQ+ ASYLUM SEEKERS AND REFUGEES:
“I wanted to come to the UK so I could be free, live freely, and not fear for my life.” Say It Loud Club Member
As a community of LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and refugees, we at Say It Loud Club are deeply concerned about the Government’s Nationality and Borders Bill.
Unless the Bill is amended, we know there will be:
-
Fewer LGBTQ+ people receiving safety and asylum in the UK.
-
More LGBTQ+ people being deported to places where they face harassment, violence, and imprisonment.
-
LGBTQ+ people claiming asylum being held in environments that are dangerous for members of our community and, for many, amount to torture.
Thankfully, supportive members of the House of Lords have tabled amendments to the Bill to provide protections for the most vulnerable people including those who are LGBTQ+.
However, these amendments will still need to be accepted by a majority of MPs when the Bill returns to the House of Commons.
That’s why we are calling on the government to accept these amendments and build a fairer, more humane asylum system for LGBTQ+ people.
Please sign our petition and use your voice to convince the government to support the much-needed protections for LGBTQ+ people.

Full Petition Text:
Dear Boris Johnson and Priti Patel,
We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the impact of the Nationality and Borders Bill on LGBTQ+ people, who would be disproportionately affected and discriminated against under the proposed changes.
We therefore welcome the amendments tabled in the House of Lords offering specific protections for the most vulnerable people claiming asylum, including those who are LGBTQ+.
We also support the call for a global resettlement target of 10,000 refugees being welcomed to the UK each year, and to remove Clause 11 from the Bill.
We urge this Government to also support all of these amendments when the Bill returns to the House of Commons.
Sincerely,
The undersigned:
